Urban Folk Artist: Haji Basim
Haji Basim is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist (11 to date) who has created a new genre of positive acoustic music titled Urban Folk. He is also the founder and guide instructor of Holistic Method Music. His brand of Urban Folk music was created from the influences of several styles including Folk, Soul, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Bossa Nova and Neo Soul. In finding deep connection with other genres of music, Haji humbly makes it evident, “It is not genre that makes music great, but the ability to translate emotion and thought".
Haji Basim has played extensively across the U.S. and has recently returned from an international tour where he performed in Honolulu, Hawaii, Tonsburg and Oslo Norway, New Dehli Indidia, as well as Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne in Australia. He also served as Music Director at Centers For Spiritual Living(Colors) in Charlotte, NC and sincerely enjoys sharing his musical blessings with spiritual communities across the world.
Haji draws comparisons to such memorable acts as Richie Havens, Jack Johnson, and John Legend, with the vocal quality of Sting and Seal. His past bills include Mieka Pauley and Ray Lamontagne.
